DETERMINATION
The decision of the Minister of Transport not to renew the applicant’s category 3 medical certificate is confirmed.
REASONS FOR THE DETERMINATION
Refusal to renew a category 3 aviation medical certificate — From the evidence, the Tribunal member cannot determine whether the applicant had a TIA or a stroke. However, even though the applicant’s blood pressure and hypercholesterolemia are controlled, in light of the evidence submitted to the Tribunal, the Tribunal member could not establish that the applicant’s risk for a relapse of a cerebrovascular incident is under the 2% threshold. Therefore, the decision of the Minister of Transport not to renew the applicant’s category 3 medical certificate is confirmed.
