DETERMINATION
The Minister of Transport’s decision to refuse to renew the medical certificate is confirmed.
REASONS FOR THE DETERMINATION
Refusal to renew a category 3 aviation medical certificate — The applicant experienced unconsciousness or a blackout, and additional medical reports were requested by Transport Canada (TC). Due to lack of communication between TC and the applicant, the necessary reports required were not clear to the applicant and the member was advised of this at the hearing. However, the hearing did proceed. The member concluded that before an aviation medical certificate could be reinstated, the applicant should submit to TC a complete neurologist’s report explaining the blackouts, etc. The Minister of Transport’s decision is confirmed.
