DETERMINATION
The Tribunal member referred the matter to the Minister for reconsideration and requested that a category 1 medical certificate be issued without restrictions.
REASONS FOR THE DETERMINATION
Suspension of a category 1 aviation medical certificate — The applicant received a diagnosis of melanoma to the left arm with metastases in June 2005. Following the termination of treatment in June 2006, lesions were still present but over time had decreased and the discoloration had clearly improved. In December 2007, the applicant’s general condition was stable and his biological test results were normal. The applicant sees his doctor every three months and if any abnormal deterioration occurred, Transport Canada (TC) would be informed of this promptly by the attending physician. The Tribunal member referred the matter to the Minister of Transport for reconsideration and requested that a category 1 medical certificate be issued without restrictions. In order to retain this certificate, the applicant will need to provide TC with the clinical and para-clinical results of his quarterly medical follow-up examinations.
