DETERMINATION
The member confirmed the Minister’s decision not to renew the applicant’s medical certificate.
REASONS FOR THE DETERMINATION
Refusal to renew a category 3 aviation medical certificate — The applicant is permanently on two drugs, Luvox and Desyrel. Although the applicant stated that he did not have any side effects from the medications he had been prescribed for life, the medical documentation demonstrates that many undesirable effects could occur at any time without warning and could affect his alertness. This would compromise aviation safety if the applicant should be flying his aircraft. Therefore, the member confirmed the Minister of Transport’s decision not to renew the applicant’s medical certificate.
