DETERMINATION
The Minister’s decision is confirmed.
REASONS FOR THE DETERMINATION
Refusal to renew an aviation medical certificate — The applicant was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1999. He has been taking the drug lithium to control the symptoms of his bipolar illness since 2005. Lithium also leads to incapacity. The evidence demonstrates that the side effects of lithium intake can also affect aviation safety in a serious manner. Consequently, the Minister of Transport’s decision is confirmed.
